At Priory, we want every child to achieve as highly as possible. We look at published assessment results alongside what pupils learn and the progress they make from their individual starting points.
Our school includes pupils with a wide range of needs, including children in our Orchard and Woodlands provisions. Some pupils with complex needs are unable to access statutory assessments. We report results for the whole cohort and, where helpful, show the figures with pupils disapplied from those assessments removed from the data. This additional view helps explain the results; it does not diminish those pupils’ achievements. We also evaluate their progress in learning, communication, independence and other individual goals.
Our 2026 results show encouraging strengths. In the Year 4 Multiplication Tables Check, 52% of pupils achieved full marks, above the national figure of 44%. At Key Stage 2, 29% achieved the higher standard in mathematics. We are also seeing improvement in the foundations of early reading and phonics.
We know there is more to do. Writing outcomes at the end of Key Stage 2 remain below national figures, and attainment gaps for disadvantaged pupils are significant. Improving writing, responding more precisely to pupils’ needs and strengthening attendance are priorities in our 2026–27 school development work.
Pupils enjoy school and enthuse about the many interesting curriculum-enrichment activities offered. Throughout the school, relationships are warm and supportive. Classrooms are purposeful and there is a positive climate for learning.
