Accessibility

At Priory, we want every child, parent, carer and visitor to be able to participate in school life. We consider accessibility across our buildings and grounds, our teaching and the way we communicate with families.

Access to our school

We work to remove barriers and make reasonable adjustments for pupils, staff, parents and visitors with disabilities or mobility needs. Our site includes older buildings and newer classrooms, and we continue to improve physical access through our Accessibility Plan and site development work.

Where a child needs particular arrangements, such as specialist equipment, changes to the classroom layout or support moving around school, we plan these with families and relevant professionals.

Temporary needs matter too. If your child has a broken bone, is wearing a cast or needs crutches or another mobility aid, please contact the School Office before they return. We will discuss their needs, complete a risk assessment and agree suitable arrangements before they go into class.

Access to learning and school life

We adapt teaching, resources and activities to help children participate in lessons, playtimes, clubs, trips and events. We consider sensory, communication, physical and medical needs, working with children and families to identify appropriate support.

Where an activity presents particular access or safety challenges, we discuss adjustments and suitable arrangements with families and keep these under review.

Accessible information

We aim to make our letters, forms and website clear and easy to use. Please contact the School Office if you need information in a different format or support accessing school communications.

Reviewing accessibility

Our Accessibility Plan sets out improvements to physical access, participation in the curriculum and access to information. Senior leaders and governors review progress annually, alongside the formal policy and plan review cycle. We address urgent individual needs as they arise.
