PE Sport and Physical Activity

At Priory School, PE, Sport and physical activity is at the heart of the school. We are affiliated to the Slough School Sport Network and have previously received four School Games Gold Kite Marks. We were on course to achieve  platinum, before Covid-19 delays to the kite mark entries.

In 2017 we were named Berkshire’s most active primary school. During the day all students take part in the Daily Mile, as well as Active Movement. Students are kept active on the playground with structured activities, sports and use of the  outdoor gym.

"Curriculum enrichment is a strong element of the school’s curriculum offer. Specialist teaching in sport contributes very well to pupils’ learning, enjoyment and engagement. Ofsted Report, March 2019"

Our physical education aims are:

To Inspire our students to be active and healthy for a lifetime. Engage students to be active throughout the school day be physically active for a minimum of 30 minutes. To educate our students through physical practice. To develop social, personal, cognitive, creative skills through PE. Promote our students to be active outside of school (weekly home challenges) for over 30 minutes a day. To target the least active groups and individuals and provide active opportunities. Develop our students to have a growth mindset. Encourage our students to understand the true value of a personal best.

Each term students take part in inter-house competitions to earn house points for their houses.

Students are assessed on their Social, Personal, Cognitive and creative skills through developing their fundamental movement skills within modified games, sport and the delivery of the Real PE programme (Create Development)

Our Woodlands and Orchard  students participate in modified games, students work on sending and receiving, we do this through Boccia, Kurling and ball skills. Gymnastics, sensory circuits and dance.
